Zardari sets up body to resolve small traders’ problems

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday constituted a committee of ministers and parliamentarians to look into the problems of small traders and businessmen of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

In a meeting with a delegation of small businessmen of the twin cities at the President’s house here, President Zardari directed the committee to submit its recommendations to the government for redressing the issues facing the traders.

The committee includes Interior Minister, Rehman A. Malik, Minister for Industries, Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo, Senator Nayyar Hussain Bokhari, Senator Babar Awan and Senator Faisal Raza Abidi.

The President also advised the committee to make proposals for providing cheap financing to the small traders and also suggest structures to check that the facility could not be misused in the name of financial assistance.

He asked the committee to examine the demand of trading community for building a colony and ensuring legislation to regulate the rent.

President Zardari appreciated the contributions made by small businessmen towards strengthening national economy and said they are invaluable assets of the country and the government would facilitate them in all possible ways.

The President said the government would also look into the demand of the traders and small business community for setting up a separate chamber for them.

He emphasized that the government was focusing on policies directed towards putting economy on the path of sustainable growth.

President urged the business community to play their role in increasing economic activity in the country. app.....LINK
