Indian ministry yet to issue IPL clearance

ISLAMABAD: The Indian Home Ministry has yet to give green signal to its High Commission in Islamabad to issue visas to IPL bound players as Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) top officials are hopeful of clearing the last hurdle in the next couple of days.

Ijaz Butt, the PCB chairman, confirmed to ‘The News’ that efforts are being made to get the India visas for players as soon as possible. “We contacted India High Commission in Islamabad this morning and they have told us they are waiting for their Home Ministry’s NOC before processing Pakistan players’ visas documents.”

Butt was hopeful that the NOC would be with the consulate within next couple of days. “We were very much on to it as we want our players to get much required exposure in IPL.

Besides the exposure against the best of international players, they would also get financial benefits from participating in the cash rich league. We are in contact with all the stakeholders and are hopefully to clear the last hurdle in next couple of days.”

It has been learnt that Indian Home Ministry had issued NOC for visas to players from all other countries except for Pakistan. “They were waiting clearance from their agencies before giving clearance to Pakistan players,” said a source....LINK
