Tiger to check into clinic for sex addicts

Shamed golfer Tiger Woods is set to check into a facility specialising in sex and drug addictions.

American media are reporting that Woods – whose reputation is in free-fall following revelations of a raft of extra-marital affairs – is about to hole up at The Meadows rehab centre in Arizona.

The facility specialises in treating sex and drug addictions, with its list of former clients including Kate Moss, David Duchovny, Whitney Houston and Matthew Perry.

In other developments yesterday:

His wife Elin Nordegren has met with one of America's top divorce lawyers

Another sponsor – watch makers Tag Heuer – has dropped Woods.

Several international betting agencies – including Paddy Power – are offering fans odds on whether Woods will get divorced and what the settlement will be, and

His name has been linked to a drugs investigation centred around a doctor who once treated him.

At least 14 women have been linked to Woods; including some when Nordegren was pregnant with their two children.

Despite Woods' recent statement that he was committed to saving his marriage, Nordegren is understood to have met with divorce lawyer Sorrell Trope.

Trope has previously represented Nicole Kidman, Hugh Grant, Nicolas Cage, Britney Spears and Cary Grant.

The new revelations surfaced shortly after Tag Heuer announced it was ceasing its use of Woods in its advertising campaigns.

"We recognise Tiger Woods as a great sportsman but we have to take account of the sensitivity of some consumers in relation to recent events," Tag Heuer boss Jean-Christophe Babin said.

Consulting firm Accenture also dropped Woods, while Gillette has stopped broadcasting adverts with the golfer promoting their razors.

Woods has been linked to another woman in the past 24 hours.

The Wall Street Journal has reported that an affair with a Florida waitress was swept under the carpet following a deal between Woods' management and American Media Inc.

The Enquirer had obtained photos of the pair in a carpark outside a restaurant.

The photos and story was dropped after Woods' management offered up the star for an exclusive interview for Men's Fitness, also owned by AMI.

Woods' name has also been linked to an investigation into a growing drugs scandal involving Dr Tony Galea who treated him last year after he underwent knee reconstruction.

Galea is under investigation for the importation and distribution of banned steroids and human growth hormone.

Sources close to the investigation said Woods had only used legal treatments.

Woods' agent Mark Steinberg said linking Woods to the investigation would be "recklessly irresponsible."

And things may well get worse for Woods. The Wall Street Journal has reported that British tabloid News of the World will today reveal sensational new material from another woman Woods is said to have bedded.LINK
