LAHORE: Punjab Finance Minister Tanvir Ashraf Kaira has said that the impression that the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award was based on population alone was wrong.
Talking to a PPP delegation at his office on Thursday, he said, there had been positive development on the award and most of the issues had been settled among the provinces. All provinces wanted increase in the share of the divisible pool, he added.
The provincial finance minister said there were no differences among the provinces regarding distribution of resources and they were moving in the right direction.
Kaira said the announcement of the NFC Award would help dispense with the sense of deprivation among the province and promote harmony.
He said the new NFC Award would be announced in a democratic manner and all rights of the provinces would be protected in this award because everyone is well aware of each other’s problems.
He said, ‘we want distribution of resources among provinces on the basis of judicious formula and there should not be discrimination among provinces regarding distribution of financial resources.’—APP....LINK
