NA to debate law and order from today


ISLAMABAD, The National Assembly would initiate a debate on law and order situation pervading the country, what the parliamentary affairs minister viewed would help government seek new suggestions and respond to members' views.

Speaker National Assembly Dr Fehmida Mirza told the House that nine motions have been submitted by different members to her office seeking a full-fledged debate on the law and order situation prevailing across the country.

Describing the motions dealing with matter of utmost importance, she sought the opinion of Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Babar Awan, who answered in affirmation.

"I have no objection. Under Article 259, all these motions should be clubbed. I have already asked interior minister to get ready for the debate. We are ready for debate so that we may respond to members' views and seek their suggestions," said Dr Babar Awan.

The parliamentary affairs minister moved the motion seeking debate on law and order situation in the country.

Later, Chief whip of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Sheikh Aftab told the chair that all the political parties have unanimously agreed to initiate a debate.

To this, the chair asked the chief whips of all parliamentary parties to submit the names of members willing to raise their vice on the issue.....................LINK
